About

Colorpoint Shorthairs are an affectionate breed, devoted and loyal to their people. Sensitive to their owner’s moods, Colorpoints are more than happy to sit at your side or on your lap and purr words of encouragement on a bad day. They will constantly seek out your lap whenever it is open and in the moments when your lap is preoccupied they will stretch out in sunny spots on the ground.

πŸ›οΈ Breed History

The Persian cat, often lovingly referred to as the Persian Longhair, is a breed that exudes elegance and charm with its luxurious coat and sweet expression. Characterized by a round face and a petite muzzle, the Persian has a regal appearance that has captivated cat lovers for centuries. Although the breed has evolved over time, with some lines developing flatter noses due to selective breeding, traditional Persians retain a more pronounced muzzle which helps them breathe more easily. This breed's journey began possibly as early as the 1620s, when longhaired cats were thought to be imported from Khorasan to Italy. However, it was during the 19th century that they gained significant popularity, particularly as cats were brought over from Afghanistan and Iran, introducing their exquisite beauty to Europe and beyond. As the Persian cat became a favorite among cat fanciers in North-West Europe during the 19th century, their allure only grew stronger post-World War II through the dedicated efforts of breeders in North America, Australia, and New Zealand. The breed is known for its stunning array of coat colors, resulting from careful selective breeding, which has allowed enthusiasts to enjoy a variety of striking looks. However, this breeding also brought challenges; some lines developed health issues associated with their flatter faces. Thankfully, there is a movement within the cat community to preserve the traditional Persian type, ensuring that these beautiful cats can enjoy long, healthy lives. With their gentle personalities and affectionate nature, Persians continue to be cherished companions, making them a beloved choice for families and individuals alike.
